Creating a Whimsical Neutral Kid's Room: Part 1

AHHH! How much do you love this room?! I'm like an 11 on a scale of 1-10, haha. Seriously, I'm breaking it down into 2 blog posts because there are just so many cute details to share! And guess what? Here's the best part... it's all affordable too! Yep, this room is one of my partnership projects with Walmart!! And you guys, they have THE cutest kids room stuff!

This whole space started when I found the adorable wooden house frame bed. I wanted something simple that would allow the accent wall to show through and I also love that you can put the mattress right inside the frame directly on the ground so that it isn't too high for little toddlers as they're adjusting to a big kid bed! As they grow you can raise it up with a box springs and/or bed frame that fits inside the house canopy walls. Plus, it doubles as a playhouse, which is so fun for kids!

Another awesome element is the tent. It's the perfect place to cozy up & read a book. And did I mention it's only $39?! I used a faux fur rug inside for added comfort and texture. And I found this darling contrasting pom-pom throw set on the Walmart website as well! One is draped across the bed & the other is tucked inside the tent-- I love the stitching detail and neutral colors!

On that note, when you're doing a more neutral kids room, I think it's important to add whimsical details & mix patterns-- this keeps the space interesting and fun! The star sheet set was a perfect way to do this. Can you believe it's just $12.98?! I was so excited about that. I love that you can find so many cute things on Walmart.com that are a good price point & good quality too! We even got the gel memory foam mattress from Walmart!

You may have noticed the darling woven sailboat that I shared with you guys a couple weeks back when it arrived! This is another accent that's packed with whimsy & charm. I adore that this space feels both adventurous & dreamy. It captures the personality of our little guy & he has loved his updated room so much!! I linked all my cute Walmart finds for you below! Be sure to stay tuned for Part 2 where I'll be sharing how I updated the other side of this fun room!
